I set the video camera on night vision pointed at the hummingbird feeder on August 1, 2013 from 8pm to 9pm.
The first 9 minutes all you see is a “blur” until the first bat takes a drink. By 8:30 pm there are multiple bats feeding. We have seen 40+ bats at once as they set off the motion lights at the visitors center.
We have stood in the dark and let them fly all around us as they feed. We can hear and feel them fly by. We have yet to be hit by one, but did hear one hit the wall.

Pauline and I had some errands to do in Tucson so we decided to make a day of it and visit the Pima Air & Space Museum and Saguaro National Park East unit.
We arrived at the Pima Air & Space Museum around 9:30am and we immediately knew we did not plan the day out too well. We was both hungry as hell, so we had to start our day at the diner. We was the first customers of the day, and while it took a bit longer then we expected to get our food, the food was really good and well worth the wait.
Pauline for the grilled Ham and Cheese and I got the Cheeseburger with American cheese and we shared a side of fries. We give it 4 of 5 stars. Typical diner food, but done well. We would for sure eat there again.
We also did not wear the proper foot wear. We both decided to wear tennis shoes, but hiking boots would have been the better choice, since this place is MASSIVE in size. We tried to take pictures of everything we saw, but there was just too many Airplanes. We was going to take the bus tour of the “Bone yard” but we decided we can do that on our next visit, there is just too much to see in one visit.
We spoke to many of the volunteers while there and discovered one was Purdue Alum and many were Veterans of World War II.
We had a great visit, but again, one day is not long enough to see everything. We walked a fast pace and it still took hours.
The B36 here was in amazing condition. And We was told it is 1 of 4 left in the world. We saw another one in Atwater, CA in April, so we have seen 1/2 of the B36’s left.
The volunteers also told us they are working on getting the needed funding to build a new massive hanger for “Cold War” aircraft, so the B36, B47, B58, B52 and others.
This would have to be a HUGE hanger to fit all these birds.
The aircraft with yellow wings are trainers.
The B29 had lots of items that was used in battle along with pictures and personal items of the crew.
This was the best Air Museum I have ever been to. The Space Museum was small but nice for what they have.
Seeing 2 references to the USS America CV-66 was a very nice surprise. May she rest in peace.

This year is just moving too damn fast. Don’t get me wrong, I love the late part of Summer and I really love the Fall season, but it just seem’s like it was April a few days ago.
Kickoff for football is getting soooooooooo much closer.
As is our departure date. Which is like 2 months from today. We still do not have a new gig. I have to get re fingerprinted for my Washington back ground check, last set of prints was too “smudged”.
I spoke to a State of Washington Parks and Recs personal and she told me to contact the parks we are interested in letting them know our applications are being processed now, but will be somewhat late due to my finger print issue.
We had some visitors spot a Mountain Lion yesterday. But I was unable to see any fresh signs indicating it was still in the area or not.

I took these pictures today, the first few are from my morning walk, but while checking in some visitors a Costa’s Hummingbird showed up and since this was the first one I had ever seen, and the first reported one in over 2 weeks, I had Pauline bring me the camera and I took a few more hummingbird pictures.
I will soon be getting help for my addiction.
I am now caught up with my blogging. I like to take a few days off between post, but I always have that damn camera with me when I go out hiking and if I carry it, I use it, so I am forced to post more pictures, and that takes so much time to edit that after a few days of hours and hours of the same thing over and over, it wears on me.
So of course I still carry the camera.
We have another storm cell rolling in and Pauline is baking some bacon for BLT’s…
Life is good.
Oh, we have been here for 3 months and 3 days. We leave in 2 months. We still have not found another gig. We have time. Yet, we stress. We will be going back to the Northwest for sure, just we have no idea which way we will take to get there since we have a fast route, and the take our time route, it all depends on the when’s and what’s of the next gig.
