Just an area for what I’m doing on an everyday basis.

Ho-Hum

Today was kind of hoo-hum, in that I really didn’t even try to do anything productive work wise, even if in the end I did do some.  During the week we may do errands and stuff, but I actually try to focus on work.  Today was like, what ever……lol

Went tanning for the 1st time in 2 weeks, so my face is slightly red but not too bad.  Did a little house work when I got home.  And then we practiced getting our tent up in living room while waiting for the Belmont.  We figured it out, but they really need to give better directions…at least for the 1st few times and for packing away the frame.  You can never repack it as tight as you got it.  =(  We are going to do a few more times and then time ourselves.  =)  Got the sleeping bags out to see how to zip them up together….didn’t happen….one is a left zipper and the other is a right zipper…you are suppose to be able to put them together, at least that is what we were told.    But it was interesting practice…lol

During this we stopped to watch the last leg of the Triple Crown.  Big Brown didn’t win.  =(   We won’t be surprised if it was the heat that got to him.

The weather let up enough to go walking this afternoon.  Took the camera, but not many pictures.  I just feel that I’ve seen it all and nothing is popping.  Which is disappointing…I love getting nature pictures.  So I spent most of my time walking talking to my folks and making sure that they didn’t get flooded out in Indiana.

We just got done watching the Goonies That was fun to see again, without all the commercials that TV put into it.  And I got some work done while watching.  Debating on setting myself downstairs tomorrow…..just so we can watch some of the movies we have DVR.

Photographers nightmare

Busy, Busy

Well, it has been hard to get work done that last few days…icks….

Thursday we knew were heading to REI to pick up a tent and sleeping bags and stopping by to see a friend after wards, but it took longer then expected.  We knew the tent we wanted to get, we will be putting it together this weekend to make sure we know what we are doing.  But what was confusing was the sleeping bags.  Unless you are doing the basic camping and don’t want to work up to back packing, the normal bags that we grew up with don’t work.  You want the ones that compact as small and as light as possible….so you have to figure if you want down or sythenic….and they aren’t squares anymore.  They are mummy like in shape, then there are men’s and women’s.  Women’s are suppose to be narrower at the shoulders and wider at the hips….well, I have wide shoulders so I ended up with the same one as Harold’s….just had to have my zipper on the opposite side so we can zip them together.  Even camping, I have to sleep on his left side…..too weird not to……lol

After REI, we headed into the city to have lunch with our friend.  By the time we got done it was too late to head home, because we would be stuck in rush hour.  So we had about an hour to kill….so headed over to the 1st smoke free strip bar I’ve even been in and killed some time talking to the girls and throwing them our money.  =)  I can’t wait for February 2009…all of them will be smoke free…I’m so going to love that.

By the time we got home it was after 7pm…icks.  So I had to get some work done before heading to bed.

Today, had my trainer today…..did not meet my weight goal….gggrrr  I’m a little peeved by that.  But got my work out in.  I really needed to get my nails done, but didn’t know if they could get me in.  My new saloon I’m going to works better by appointments then walkins, which is very different to what I’m use to.  But they are consistent on their work and there are 2 designers.  The husband is the main designer and loves to come up with different things, so I’m pretty happy with the work that they do.  The only issue that I have with getting my nails done is the time that it takes…..usually 3-4 hrs since I get a pedicure with a design.  So it takes a lot more time then it would normally take.  But there is no way I could got back to no design….it would drive me nuts……lol

I did get a few things done before I left for my appointment, luckily some of my other work was light.  I will be attacking it some tomorrow.

So we didn’t get our movie night in tonight.  =(  If I hadn’t been tied up earlier today, I would have had time for it.  We’ll probably watch some movies tomorrow after the Belmont.

Here are just a few more pictures from our weekend.

No Hot Water….icks!

When I got to gym my trainer told me he was feeling mean today and then proceeded to work my ass off big time.  Today was legs and my knees still feel weak.  He wants me down by 1 & half pound by Friday….if not I’ll be stuck running the stairs for an hour that day….icks…  I’ve eaten maybe 1200 calories today and trying hard not to eat carbs……….this is a bitch.

Well, the day was pretty much wasted after that…..we got home to no hot water.  =(  I had noticed that I barely had hot water to wash my face last night, but just thought that I hadn’t waited long enough.  Called the landlord and they got someone out to us about3pm and found out it was temperature gauges, so they got fixed….but we had to wait a few hours for the water to heat up and for the sediment to settle in the heater.  I still ended up with yellow water for a bath/shower, but it was hot.

What sucked today is that I spent it cold from all the sweat from the gym.  It really sucked not to be able to take my shower when I needed it.

It really messed me up on focusing today.   I did get our pictures from the weekend resized, but still haven’t gotten them in galleries yet.   I hope to have time to post a bunch of them tomorrow, but here is a few pics.

A storm view from our back yard.  I love the contrast of the dark clouds with the trees.

From our 1st day, we actually had some sun and blue skies

Great Weekend Summary

We ran away to the Oregon Coast Friday for our 11th Anniversary Saturday.  It was a very good weekend.  We stayed at Seaside, Or and traveled to Cannon Beach and Astoria.

Seaside was nice, but reminded us of Indiana Beach/Santa Monica and the touristy type town that it was.  You can tell that it has been a tourist place almost since the founding of it.  We couldn’t believe how fine the sand is there.  We are use to the coarse sand of Florida and this sand felt silky for lack of a better word.  It was chilly and windy, so we weren’t going in, but a lot of folks did.  We did feel the water and it was warmer then we expected.

Saturday we headed down to Cannon Beach, for those who have watched Goonies, that is where you see the pirate ship of One-Eyed Willy sails past a big rock.  Which is funny because that movie takes place 30miles north in Astoria.   =)  But it was so cool to see.  We took pictures, which I will be posting as soon as I get time to organize them.

We then drove up to Astoria, because we wanted to cross the very long bridge to Washington.   In Washington we stopped at Ft. Columbia, an old Army Fort.  That was really cool to see, how things were built into the ground and how the wild flowers have taken over.  Then we stopped at Ft Stevens back in Oregon and you could see Ft. Columbia on the other side of the river.

I love visiting military posts, but that is the Army brat in me.  I would so love to go back to APG, MD to see the US Army Ordnance Museum there again.  I grew up cross the street from it and haven’t been there since ’84.

I totally blew my diet….icks…gained a pound, but it was worth it, it was our anniversary and damn it, I haven’t had a waffle cone in a long time…grin

We got back Sunday and it was nose to the grindstone, I had a ton of work waiting for me.  I finally got some time to work on our own things today.  I hope to be able to work on our pictures tomorrow.

Spent the last few hours watching political coverage and speeches.  Obama’s was outstanding.  Hillary, I think she is still coming to terms with it….because until a pundit mentioned it, I didn’t think about the fact that the Clinton’s haven’t lost since ’80….so they aren’t use to it.

**I’m no fan of this series, but this doesn’t surprise me at all…..in fact it sadness me.

Babble & NewsFlash

Spent the last two days just getting work done, as of 2 hours ago I was caught up…..for now, never lasts…..lol.  But it game me time to balance our checkbooks and work on getting my messages done.  We are taking off for a few days this weekend to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary, so I won’t be around to do any of that….of course.  We are going to visit the coast, we are about 2hrs from it.  We are looking forward to it, mainly because it is a part of Oregon we have yet to explore.  =)

Broke down and had to have a Dr Pepper, I’ve only been allowing myself 1 soda on the weekend and still staying within calories.  My trainer says to treat myself on the weekends and  try to avoid a lot of sugars.  But I got such a craving….I tried having other things but there was no way, I just had to have one….I’d probably beat someone for one it was so bad…..lol  But the good news is that I still stayed within calories and that was also with taking care of a tombstone pizza craving that I’ve been having for a couple of weeks.

My trainer says that even though I gave in, I still controlled it by making sure I stayed within calories.  =)   Then he worked my butt off today.  Which was good, because I was in a very irritable mood today when I woke up and that work out helped.  If I was just doing my own thing today it would not have been enough.

Multiracial Americans surge in number, voice

At the same time that the nation’s growing diversity and changing social attitudes are helping to swell the ranks of multiracial Americans at 10 times the rate of the white population, the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama, son of a black man and a white woman, has brought new attention, curiosity and discussion to their experiences.
