Category Archives: Everyday Stuff

Just an area for what I’m doing on an everyday basis.

Packing…………ugh!!

I hate packing. Too much stuff to forget and I’m not just packing my stuff…..icks

You would think that a suitcase per kid would be enough…..but they had brought more things down then what was in the suitcase since they drove and then they have gotten a few more toys since. So instead of me taking just one small bag for myself, I have to take a second bag just for them including putting there stuff into my bag……..lol  Cheaper to check it in then to ship it later.  =) Of course I’m in the process of continuous laundry.

I’ve been trying to spend as much time as I can with the kids. My biggest regret was not being able to take more time off. I love talking with them. Right now they are watching the “Goblet of Fire”, they haven’t seen it yet.

Some things I’ve learned about them………Charles has my stomach. =( When I stress out or get upset, I can’t eat and end up feeling sick. He also has the same problem of comprehension and not being able to think on his feet like me. Cheyanne is a quick thinker and has a pretty good grasp of things for her age. Heather has a lot of small reminders of me, she is good as learning as long as someone is able to give her individual attention.  She loves to learn.  =)

I feel better that I’ve gotten a huge part of the packing done………thankfully.  I’m going to try and get off early tomorrow so I can finish up so I can actually get some sleep.  We have to leave here by 5am for the airport and I’m not looking forward to getting them up that early.  But maybe they will fall asleep in the airport or on the plane………one can only hope.  =)

One More Week

It is my last day off before I take the kids back next Saturday. It is sad. Sad, because I didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I would’ve liked.

Harold is just not use to kids. He does fine when it is in smaller dosages and six weeks was just to much for him. If I had been able to take time off from work it wouldn’t have been so hard on him. Next time, it won’t be so long and I hope that I’ll be able to take that time off from work.

We did get to go to the beach yesterday which was nice. Trying to teach them how to deal with the incoming waves and ride them. Also trying to “toughen” the boy up. He is 9 and boys younger them him dealt with the salt water better them him. But we also wonder if it is the simple fact that when family grown ups are there he just does it for attention. Cuz when no one is around he just deals with it. We are concerned with him getting picked on at school.

We went to see the shuttle launch. Unfortunately it was scrubbed due to the weather. But the kids and us did have fun regardless. =)

We were going to see it today, but it has been storming even more so then yesterday. So it did get cancelled. =( And we haven’t even been able to go swimming. =(

The only good came out it being cancelled was I was able to get some things done around the house that really needed to get done.

Since I work all week, I got the kids’ suitcases out and put some of the toys and books that they won’t be using this week or have on the plane with them. The suitcases aren’t big enough. I know that mom and dad packed clothes in them, but with them driving down they brought more then what they could hold. Plus it doesn’t help that they have gotten a few more toys while here. =) So even though I don’t need to take more then a small piece of luggage with me, I’m going to have to go bigger and put their stuff in mine…….lol If I can avoid shipping anything that would be great.

I’m going to miss them. I love it when they are chatter boxes on sharing what they know and when the light goes off in their head when something clicks.

I do think I got the boy into reading some. I know he has been really enjoying one of my Harry Potters so that is cool. I try to ask them where they are at in their reading without them looking at the book just to see if the story is actually in their head. I got the oldest on to Harry Potter and The Black Stallion (a major favorite of mine when I was a kid).

** Update : We did get some time in the pool. It was great to be able to spend some time with them. I try to impart words of “advice” and “impressions” on them. I guess I won’t know for a few years if it helps.

I did spend some girl time. I painted the girls toes and fingernails. It was kind of cool. Of course I can’t draw a straight line much less paint very well…………..especially small nails…………lol But I like to think it was a nice memory for them. =)

Cheyanne gave me a hug, I’m like what for. She says “for being so nice” =)

Little bit of relaxation

Not too bad of a weekend so far, yesterday we went to the beach to watch the space shuttle launch which they postponed for today 9 minutes before liftoff, and the weather today is worse then yesterday so I highly doubt they will launch it today, but you know how it is, if we don’t go back to the beach to watch, they will launch it.

So we stayed at the beach for a few hours, played in the sand and surf and just had some fun, we then came home and jumped into the pool to wash the sand and grim off that the hose didn’t get. We then kicked the kids outside and watched some Sopranos and then put the kids to bed and then watched the last of the 2 DVDs of Sopranos that we had. So we have ½ of season one watched, the first 5 shows were much better then the last 3.

Today we are just trying to figure out how we are going to arrange next Saturday the best way we can. Pauline and the kids fly out to Indiana Saturday at 9:15 am and I fly to Ohio at 10:10 am and naturally we are at completely different ends of the airport, so since I am taking my laptop backpack and nothing else that will not fit into it, I am going to park on her side of the airport, get them into line to check in, walk across the airport and check in myself and if there’s anytime left meet and say good bye. Ugh… I do not envy her having to fly with 3 kids.

I am going to Ohio on a small business trip, the company I am working for wants me to be in office a day or so to get some face time and talk about the future on projects and etc. This needs to be done; I just have no desire to go to Ohio. I have not been to the Midwest since we moved away and I was not planning on returning so soon to be honest, but it needs to be done.

Toni flies back Monday 3:15 pm and I get back at 3:39 pm, so we are meeting at her luggage pickup and then just going home.

Happy Daddy’s Day!!!

LOVE YA Dad!!!!

A Little Better

This has been a rough week.  It actually started off bad last Saturday, when I discovered that I was going through brake fluid like crazy.  Harold had to take it in and wait over 3hrs, with the 3 kids at the garage as it got fixed.  Luckily, I had thrown some work books and crayons into the truck before he left since I had to go on to work.

The Heather and Charles are still grounded from the TV, Xbox, pool (raining so it doesn’t matter at the moment), and going out to do anything special.  But Charles has been eating, he was barely eating a few days ago.  They have been coloring and playing quietly.  If they behave, they will no longer be grounded Saturday and then may be they can go swimming.  I have Monday off, so if they are good we would love to take them to the zoo.

For the last two days, I got them to do their workbooks.  Heather is getting much need practiced on math.  I’m trying to get Charles to slow down and pay attention to what he is doing.  Cheyanne is a pain to get her to practice writing her letters and numbers.  She is lazy when it comes to them.  I put the other two on to other things or having them correct the ones I found wrong, while I try to push her to write.  She seems to think that being cute will help her get out of doing it.  When she tried it, I put her into a corner until she was ready to try again.

Since they are grounded, I’m worried about their lack of physical activity.  So I had them walk down to the mail box with me, which is about 1/4 mile away.  On the way back they ran, so I was happy to see them use up some of their energy.

I actually balanced our check book today.  I haven’t been able to do it for the last 2 weeks, which is horrible for me.  I usually do it every few days…..it is amazing how much money we spend at wally world. =(  Damn, I wish there was a competitor around here.  Now I need to play catch up on receipts and pay our quarterly taxes.  I think I’ll just get the receipts organized and that will be half the battle.

I just got them down for bed, not helping that a neighbor is making noise.  =(  Showed the youngest how to cover her ears.
