Category Archives: Everyday Stuff

Just an area for what I’m doing on an everyday basis.

A Pretty Good Day

Today was a work day for me. Sat. is normally a day that most major projects are done & you are gearing up for the next one. It is kind of weird since I’m use to having a goal/project. I spent most of my day getting little stuff together & worked on schedules.

I feel guilty when I spend the time on it instead of other things, but Saturday is normally a great day for that and even though I’m use to bringing my some of my work home, it can get old and with stressing about the move….it is just too much. Once the move is over, it won’t be so bad. I’m also one of those folks that likes to schedule as far in advance as I can. I have a rough draft done up to July 9th & has started on following week. We have to wait until Monday to find out if the salary budget they originally gave us has been increased; I’m so hoping it is. Because with the one I was given makes us short handed.

It felt good at work, in that it feels with the new boss that it is team with her and I. There are many things we agree upon & she as no problem with me attacking the organization of things, which I love to do when I have the time. I hate it when things aren’t organized. Drives me batty. What also impressed me is when she said she was going to take care of 2 of our associates; she got a hold of our boss and convinced her & got it done. =)

I got all the bills paid up until next month. That is always a relief.

What I would like to be able to do tomorrow is to get my receipts done so nothing is lose move wise, and box up some stuff in the master bath & maybe box up some of the clothes in the closet. Harold has gotten a good bit done. I’m not looking forward to office stuff. You know how an office is, a bunch a little stuff that piles up….lol

About the only pictures left up is my Purdue degree of my major, one of my minor, and a picture of the 1st Fannie May Candy store (damn, I miss that place & the people). I have a few little ones of the family, but those aren’t much when it comes to packing, just put it in with my desk stuff.

On an off tangent, I had been at Fannie May so long that when a holiday comes up, I know what is on sale & remember what I would be doing to prepare for it (with Father’s Day, Pixies and other nut things are always on sale….grin)

Finally sent off the book I got for mom, plus a few other things that I could tuck in there. I did it priority (only a buck more) but it didn’t dawn on me that I didn’t put one of those stickers on it that lets them know. I can only hope that they read the postage label……doh, as Homer Simpson would say….lol

I’m exhausted, didn’t get much sleep last night, but ironically feel like doing some sort of project. Of course if I do that, I’ll pass out before even starting….lol

Overcast

It has been overcasted all day, with spits of rain here and there & it finally started to let loose. It is no longer doing the down pour thing, but it is still raining & windy. Arlene is on the other side of the state for us, but her bands bring us rain & possiblity of tornados.

I did get my nails done, laundry (had a bunch) & a few things done on my pc, worked on the schedule for work. I also called and got all the utilities & stuff transfered for our move.

I did have to go into work for a little while. One of my employees had some concerns that she wanted to present to our boss but wanted me there since it would make her feel more comfortable. I hoping that once we address the person of issue that it’ll be resolved.

That was my day.

We are getting anxious to move, the bigger space & I just want to get it over with..

Our Day

It was a day off, didn’t get much done today as I would’ve liked……but what else is new….lol

We did go for a good bike ride today. Ironically I just noticed that my shoulders are red, so I’m going to have to use sun screen next time. I hate tan lines.

We then went out to lunch with a good friend of ours. We usually meet every couple of weeks like that just to keep in touch. Afterwards it was on to the grocery store. Of course, we forgot bread….lol…so when we wanted BLTs for supper we were out of luck…so we ordered pizza…lol

Harold got a call yesterday from my mom, at 1st he couldn’t understand her cuz of the connection & then it was cuz (like me) she starts into a story half way through it (we both go off on tangents). When he finally got her to answer a few questions, he found out that dad had won a trip to Tahiti! That is so cool.

My folks are so in need of something like this. They will have been married 33yrs on the 9th and are now raising Melinda’s 3 kids so they are so deserving of it. We would like to some how get the kids down here for the majority of that time to watch them.

You won’t believe how crazy the month of Aug is going to be. We are suppose to be down in Miami the 7th & 8th, mom & dad’s trip is Aug 6th-14th, and I’m flying up to Indiana the 19th for Amanda’s wedding. On the top of that the kids start school the 15th…..I was hoping that the kids could fly down on the 9th and then fly back with me on the 19th. Doesn’t help that the kids have never flown before. I don’t know, this is all confusing. But we would really like to have the kids down here to help mom & dad. Harold has already started to look at pool toys for the rugrats.

We’ll see.

Our Day

We didn’t go kayaking today but we knew that would happen since they had been predicting storms for the next few days. We got the call from tour guide around 7am with the cancel. She was stressing the storms since we were under a tornado watch. Being from Indiana, we checked out the radar got dressed & then went back to bed………..lol It was bad out, but what else are you to do?

So today we attacked the house….laundry, litters, kitchen, trash, carpet cleaning….all the fun stuff. I even made a dessert for tonight, we were craving something sweet last night & didn’t have any…lol Now I’m trying to get some pc stuff done.

Even without the kayaking we had a good anniversary. We had some good quaility time together and that is what counts. Harold was a sweetie and got me a new shower head. My old one died. But we are going to wait until we get moved before we put it up. He also got me some very self indulgent bath bubbles & salts…..I’m going to love taking my baths. =) Mom & dad & the kids sent us some open pit bbq sause….I love that stuff. We now have enough for the next year & half….grin

We did finally go and see the Revenge of the Sith. It was great! Afterwards my mine keep going over the story line from the Phantom Menace to the Return of the Jedi. ROTS really tied up all the loose ends. Even though you knew that he was going to became Vader you keep hoping that he wouldn’t……I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD to watch it again. =)

Been Awhile

I have just been working a lot, but that is nothing new………..lol It just seemed as if I couldn’t find time to post. =)

We put down 1st month’s rent for the house. We will be moving by the end of the month. I’m feeling torn between being nervous about them not cleaning & fixing up the house as well as they should to looking forward to getting ourselves settled.

I’m not looking forward to the moving part at all. But I am looking forward to having 3 bedrooms, 2 car garage, a dinning room, fenced in back yard & pool. I’m anxious to get settled in & stocked up for hurricane season that begins Wed.

I’m also starting to worry about having enough time to pack, move & clean this place while working.

They hadn’t painted it very well when we looked at & I don’t think they plan on redoing it. But they did say that they would remburse us for the paint if we did it. We are going to see if it is ok for doing different colors. other then white.

If we sign a 2 yr lease I’ll feel comfortable enough to unpack my stuff for my china cabinet. I want to be able to be settled for a couple of years at least. Then we’ll see what we are doing.

I still want to move to the Pacific NorthWest. I really miss the moutains & I’m so not looking forward this summer heat that started up few weeks ago….too damn sticky.
