For those who missed it the coverage of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, here is some links to some of the videos. The first one is the one the news talked about the most, it is the one that Bush did and it is funny : George Bush at the White House Correspondents’ Association

Now the one that the news didh’t talk about is the s
peech that Steve Colbert did. It is not ha-ha funny, it is funny in that it is a bitch slap, with a “wow, he had the balls to say that”. It is posted on Crooks & Liars (including a full trascript), it is also suppose to be posted on C-Span, but I haven’t been able to get it to work.

Thank You Stephan Colbert Site, it is a must see.

This is for all the stay-home moms that our society puts down : Stay-at-home mom would be a high paying job

Saturday Off

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It is my weekend off and I have been a bum. =) I believe I’ve earned it. There is nothing like leaving work on Friday and being made to feel that what you got done wasn’t enough. =(

I spent the day between laying out and jumping into the pool. Although I did do laundry, paid some bills and filed/paid our taxes. So it wasn’t a complete day without work. I did rebuild some of my music library so I know have something to listen to. Tomorrow is suppose to rain (thankfully………we need it bad) so I’m going to vacum & mop up the house. I hope to get motivated enough to help Harold on some things that we need to get done.

If you have never seen BullShit! with Penn & Teller, you need to. It is great! Talk about knocking down illogical arguements that are used to justify intolerance, hate and urban myths!

For great political commentary and debate, you have got to watch Bill Maher! This past week featured “actor Ben Affleck, White House correspondent Bill Sammon, and Sen. Joe Biden. ” Both Torn & I were impressed with Sen. Joe Biden’s straight responses and his knowlegde of issues. He is going to run for President. He sounds like someone we would like to check out.

Brush Fires

This happened about about 2 weeks ago : Police: Wickham Park fire is suspicious

I was across the street getting my nails done when I saw the smoke going. This park is less then 2 miles northwest of us.

Well, just found out that there is another fire & it is a bad one : Fire rages west of Wickham Road

Jackie lives not even a mile away from where it started and saw it jumped the road. Doesn’t help that the wind has been strong today. =( This is the dry season and we are finally expecting rain but that isn’t until late tonight/tomorrow.

Afraid of history repeating itself?

As a Native American, I have one thing to say about immigration: “Get over it.” Where does all this fear come from?

Are you afraid that you won’t be allowed to speak your native language anymore? Are you afraid that your children will be taken from your homes and sent to a boarding school and forced to adopt foreign names and learn a new language?

Are you afraid that your property will be taken from you and you will be relocated somewhere that no one would choose to live? Are you afraid that you will be killed if you don’t relocate?

Are you afraid that schools will use you as a mascot and adopt an exaggerated likeness of your image?

Are you afraid that your spiritual beliefs will be considered heathen and forbidden to practice?

Even if these immigrants form a new government, eventually you will become a citizen (we Injuns became citizens 1924) and it probably won’t take you 148 years. I am sure you will have the right to vote (we got that puppy in 1975) in less than 199 years.

I hear all these good folks talking about immigration and how bad that is. I am afraid people will just give themselves ulcers worrying about it. The sensible thing to do is just get over it.
