Picking up a dead “Red-shouldered hawk” for sure wasn’t on my list.

We got the first rain in over a month today, it was coming down in sheets and a lot of thunder and lighting, so I go outside to the porch to watch and I see a big bird body laying in my yard. I wait until the rain somewhat lightens up and I go out to confirm it is for sure dead and snapped a few pictures of the body.

It looks like, IMHO, this hawk was chasing prey and the prey out smarted and out maneuvered it and it slammed into the ground head first. Top of it’s head was covered in dirt and blood was coming out of it’s mouth.

I have seen this bird a few times, it would land on the rooftops around here and scream a loud cry, I had wanted to get pics of it many times, but never had my camera when I saw it and it would fly away too fast.

Guess I have plenty of time to take its pic now.

In other news, we are getting a cage for the raccoon and the babies, she has pooped in my pool too many times, and its too fucking disgusting to let go, I feel terrible I know its not her fault, but we can’t have this.

I blame all the recent construction going on, even more wooded areas have been cleared out near us.

Its time for us to move on…

How Do I Feel?: sad

The drink I was “tricked” into getting, nothing like getting laughed at by a table full of bull dykes when this was brought to me, sorry for the darkness, no flash on the camera and I tried to PS the lighting some, this is as good as it gets.

Lunch with Eris and DrJeff, no idea what we ate, I’m sure they will tell me, but I actually did enjoy my meal and plan to go back soon.

How Do I Feel?: good

Pauline heard some noises Monday night, and last night I heard what sounded like my attic being torn to hell, but it was above the patio, so I grabbed a flash light and looked and found this.

I called animal control and they said there is nothing they can do, so I called Florida Wildlife Management and they said the same thing, no risk to me then there is nothing they will do.

I’m not going to risk the babies by trying to cage the momma, so I guess I am stuck with them.

Better not poop in my pool again….
