Day Off

It is nice to have a day off with good plans.

We already did our much needed bike ride, Harold took a few more pics of the baby blue jays….they now have their eyes open and no longer make noise when they hear us. But boy….when they don’t see or hear us…..noisy little buggers. =)

We are going to a friend’s place for the night, it isn’t too far from here (they are out of town). It has its own private beach and we plan on enjoying it to it’s fullest. But it is great for us just to spend some nice quaility time together.

Luckily I don’t work until tomorrow afternoon. I did just over 12 hours @ work yesterday.

I know some folks don’t get why being salary can be important compared to an hourly manager, but what I really like is that I don’t have to be a clock watcher. If I feel I need to stay over to get something done, I can & not worry about getting us in trouble for overtime. And that pays off in the long run cuz there will be days that I don’t need to stay over and leave a little early. This last 7 months was the 1st I’ve been an hourly since I graduated from college & it was weird.

I’m feeling really good about our shop & management team. I feel as if we are all on the same wave length as managers & with the strong players in our shop we can really get things turned around. Even our DM said that we have a lot of opportunities & once things are caught up everything will fall in to place. That made me feel good.

Need to finish getting things together. If the place has internet I may update you later, if not….chat with you later. =)

drum roll please……lol….I got the promotion. I’m now the assistant & I got the raise I wanted for work…….grin Now the head manager & myself need to get things back together there & I need to prove myself so I can get a big fat raise next time around……grin But that means much longer days for the next 2-3 weeks until we get our office all straighten out & staffed.

It was a day off………

I thought I had done up an entry yesterday but………I was mistaken. I’ve been doing good, but forgot about yesterday…….lol

I have been working a lot. It was my day off but went in to get some work done since we have big bosses coming in tomorrow. So I’ll be getting off early Saturday or I would be getting some major overtime. They need to either promote me and get me on salary or allow overtime, cuz we need it.

I’m looking forward to the results that will be coming out of work over the next few weeks once we get staffed. The more I talk with the new GM and other key members of the staff we are all on the same page & look forward to the changes. I’m just disappointed that the assistant who is leaving won’t be around for it cuz I feel she would really appreciate it and would no longer feel as if all the work fell to her. It would be a management team like it should be. But maybe it is time for her to move on in her life…..she has gone through a lot over the years there.

One of the girls that work there, who I felt would do well in a management position, passed the test they give you for it. That was so cool. Now we just need to wait the 2 weeks it will take to train her so we can feel more stable on management coverage. I’ve also went and got one person hired, another one may be starting later next week and I have one more interview tomorrow.

We need to get fully staff and also need to get folks to either do their jobs or have them find another. That is what it is coming down to.

Just got done watching LOST………dang! That show knows how to leave you hanging……doesn’t help that I love watching Sayid……he is HOT! This summer is going to suck wanting for the new season……grrrrr

Hey everyone!

It was another long day at work. But I did get somethings accomplished. =) I have some interviews set up for tomorrow since we are short handed & we have one of people going to take the management test. We are 2 managers down & have found out that our sister store will be down a manger in 2 weeks. If our employee pasts the test then we can get her trained there starting as soon as next week. I think she would be a good manager, I just hope she tests well. Tests can freak people out sometimes.
